ABLOY Expands CUMULUS Keyless Access to Doors

ABLOY has expanded its CUMULUS access management platform with a new cylinder range that brings mobile, keyless access to door environments.

The Finnish locking and access control company, part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, said the new cylinders allow users to unlock doors with a mobile device and manage more access points through a single system. According to ABLOY, the expansion extends CUMULUS beyond padlocks, key safes and other locking applications.

Mobile access expands to door environments

The new cylinder range enables organizations to manage door access without physical keys. Access points can be administered remotely through the CUMULUS platform, while users authenticate through mobile technology.

The system combines credential technology, a mobile application and battery-powered locking devices. ABLOY said the battery-powered architecture supports a real-time clock and additional smart functions.

The expansion brings ABLOY CUMULUS mobile access to door environments while keeping different access points within a single management system.

Access events, device status and environmental data can also be recorded within the system. This provides greater traceability and helps protect access rights from unauthorized changes or misuse.

Retrofit support for existing ABLOY systems

The cylinder range can be managed through ASSA ABLOY Access or compatible partner software. It also supports retrofit installations that make use of existing ABLOY locking systems.

This allows organizations to introduce digital access management without necessarily replacing their existing mechanical locking infrastructure.

The new cylinders support retrofit upgrades using existing ABLOY locking systems, adding a migration path toward mobile access management.

Designed for demanding environments

ABLOY said CUMULUS targets professional environments that require secure and reliable access management under demanding conditions.

The company positions the new cylinder range particularly for demanding outdoor applications, where security, reliability and access manageability are important requirements.

CUMULUS is also designed to operate in locations with limited network connectivity. ABLOY said the platform provides a consistent user experience across its different devices without relying on proximity-based access technologies.
