Dubai startup launches sovereign AI platform

Dubai-based startup MetisJean has launched Jean, its sovereign AI operating system designed to run inside an organization’s own infrastructure.

According to MetisJean, the platform connects to existing business systems while keeping data, models, policies and audit records within the customer’s own environment. It can run on-premises, in a private cloud or in a single-tenant sovereign region.

The company is targeting regulated sectors including government, financial services and energy, where data residency and control over AI processing are increasingly important.

MetisJean says the platform Jean can reduce reliance on externally hosted large language models and applies role-based controls to access internal data. It also provides an auditable trail of system actions.

The company claims internal benchmark tests showed up to a 90% reduction in large language model token use for repeat workflows, with results expected in a forthcoming white paper.

MetisJean has raised about $3 million in pre-seed funding and is seeking additional regional investment.
