Honeywell tests AI building platform in Dubai
Honeywell Technologies has introduced Forge Cognition, an AI-powered platform for managing buildings and industrial facilities. The company is piloting the technology at the Fairmont Hotel in Dubai.
According to Honeywell’s official announcement, the platform combines AI agents and real-time digital twins to support facility operations. Honeywell developed the technology using solutions from NVIDIA and Dell Technologies. Forge Cognition connects to existing building systems, helping operators analyze equipment performance, manage alarms and evaluate operational changes.
AI agents support building operations
The platform uses AI agents to interpret operating data and identify potential equipment problems. Its alarm management capabilities classify and verify building-management alerts. This helps facility teams prioritize incidents and reduce unnecessary notifications.
Meanwhile, predictive maintenance functions analyze real-time HVAC data to identify emerging equipment issues. Digital twin simulations also allow operators to evaluate changes in building operations and identify potential energy savings.
The platform supports manual, semi-autonomous and autonomous operating modes. Facility managers can select their preferred level of oversight and override automated actions.
Honeywell Forge Cognition: Key capabilities
- AI agents: Analyze operational data and identify potential equipment issues.
- Alarm management: Classify and verify alerts to help operators prioritize incidents.
- Predictive maintenance: Monitor HVAC data to identify emerging equipment problems.
- Digital twins: Simulate operational changes and assess potential energy savings.
- Operational control: Support manual, semi-autonomous and autonomous modes.
Dubai among early pilot locations
Honeywell is piloting Forge Cognition at several sites, including the Fairmont Hotel in Dubai and NVIDIA’s Voyager campus in California. Additional pilots include NEX Mall in Singapore, Vanderbilt University and Honeywell facilities in India and the United States.
At NVIDIA’s Voyager campus, Honeywell reported an average reduction of up to 90% in unnecessary alerts during the pilot. The company also identified potential energy savings of up to 10%, although these remain projected improvements rather than confirmed reductions in consumption.
NVIDIA provides AI models and simulation technologies, while Dell supplies computing, data and storage infrastructure. Honeywell says customers can begin discussing and planning Forge Cognition deployments.
